I decided I am not starting What I Wore Wednesdays until I go back to school.I was unsuccessful at finding a summer job so unless I have something to do I am in gym shorts all day, no makeup, hair in a messy bun. I also decided that next week I am going to start another every Wednesday tradition.I am going to write a letter to someone (or a group of people) every Wednesday. It is based on a title of a book my mom has "The Wednesday Letters". I haven't read it yet, but I hope to soon. Speaking of books, I re-read one of my personal favorites again this week, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
If you have not read this book, you should. I personally think to be an educator, parent, or anything involving children/adolescents. This girl had MANY of the signs of someone who was raped, and yet no one took notice. No one even gave a second glance to this girl, except one teacher. I won't say anymore because I don't want to ruin the plot, but this story is beautifully written.
I've also decided today that for any followers I do have(whether public or not) I am going to give you a few facts about me...
I've also decided today that for any followers I do have(whether public or not) I am going to give you a few facts about me...
1. I love children. I love teaching. I love the look on a child's face when they "get it". I love doing church camp, youth group,Bible study, and soon Worship and Wonder. I just love kids. I love those "Kids Say The Darndest Things" moments.
2. I love nuts. Almonds, cashews, pistachios, and pecans are my favorites.
3. I love reading. Especially young adult fiction. My favorite books include Speak, Impulse,To Kill A Mockingbird, Thirteen Reasons Why, and My Sister's Keeper. I also love series books, such as Harry Potter, The Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Southern Vampire Series(AKA True Blood).

4. I have a bad temper. Believe it or not!
5. I am extremely emotional. I get very happy and very sad. There's not a lot of in between with me unless I am doing something. I am also the queen of bottling up emotions.
6. I HATE HATE HATE HATE asking for help. On anything. It doesn't matter if I need help in a class, financially, or in any other way.I just hate it.
7. I curse far more then either parents would be proud to know.
8. Often times I would rather hang out with guys then girls. I have lots of girlfriends, but not many I would hang out in a group of girls with.

9. I love baking cupcakes!
10. I want to be a teacher more than anything in the world! In case, you didn't get that from #1. I hope to end up teaching social studies. Most people who knew me as a child are surprised I am not going for English/Language/Reading. I was just really close to the Social Studies when I transferred to West Liberty and I decided to go into it. That does not mean I won't attempt to instill a love of reading in my students.
11. I really and truly do believe that a good teacher can have a positive effect on a child. All those cheesy quotes about teachers like "The influence of a good teacher can never be erased", "A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart", and "Teachers plant seeds of knowledge that grow forever"...yeah I believe wholeheartedly in all those.
12. The perfect salad to me has a 2:1 lettuce to carrot ratio. Although instead of lettuce, spinach is even better.
13. I am scared shitless of the future. I am afraid of being a bad teacher, a bad mom, a bad wife, a bad citizen.
14. My biggest fear in life is I will get a divorce. If I don't have kids it won't bug me as much, but if I have kids it would break my heart for them. I know how much your heart can hurt from it. I know that it breaks my heart to say, I don't remember sitting down to a meal with both parents. I'm sure it happened...I have no doubt it happened, but I don't remember it. I don't have albums of family vacations.
15. I will admit I am way too hard on myself and I worry WAY too much, but I have no idea how to stop it.
16. I am going to lose twenty more pounds by the end of the year if it kills me.
17. I couldn't imagine my life without my fiance. He is my best friend and always has my back. He can almost always calm me down when I am upset.
18. I have the best parents anyone could ask for. Even as an adult I get sad they couldn't make it work, but I know it was for the best and I got a pretty awesome stepmom and a little brother I couldn't imagine life without.

20. My most prized possessions are my engagement ring, a kaleidoscope-like thing with a picture of the one vacation I took with both parents,my Caregivers pin from Relay for Life, a string of beads I got at church camp last year for being a "hero", a caboose from my grandpa's train set, and the Bride Barbie Gary gave me when he proposed.
Well there you have it...twenty random facts about me.
